I am so annoyed at myself for not figuring it out. I noticed that when Ackroyd asked Sheppard to check the window, Sheppard noted that it was open, and that he told Ackroyd he had latched it, but did not explicitly write that he had latched it; even at that stage in the book it was an odd break from Sheppard's methodical style, and I thought to myself "did he close it or did he just say he closed it?" but of COURSE I forgot about that entirely until Poirot had him.

I have been reading a bunch of Agatha Christies lately and this one is my favorite. I hardly ever guess the murderer but in this case I especially didn't!
